Privacy notice
What information does US Computer collect about me?
US Computer respects your privacy. The site uses no tracking cookies and no analytics scripts. We collect only the information you choose to submit through a form, such as an email address for a checklist, and we use it solely to fulfill that request. We do not sell your personal information. This notice explains the details.
No tracking, no analytics
US Computer is built to respect your privacy by default. The site does not use tracking cookies, and it does not load third-party analytics or advertising scripts that follow you around the web. In other words, simply reading the guides here does not feed your behavior into trackers or profiles. Like any website, the host that serves these pages may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, for basic security and reliability, but that is ordinary technical record-keeping, not behavioral tracking.
Because we set no tracking cookies, you do not need to manage cookie consent banners for tracking here, and blocking cookies in your browser will not affect how the site works for reading the guides. This choice is deliberate: we would rather offer clear, useful information without the surveillance that has become common online. You can browse the entire site and read everything without providing any personal information at all, which is exactly how we think an information guide should work.
What we collect and why
The only personal information we actively collect is what you voluntarily choose to give us, typically by submitting a form, such as entering your email address to request a free checklist, or by emailing us directly. When you do, we use that information solely to fulfill your request, for example to send the checklist you asked for or to respond to your message. We do not collect personal details in the background, and we do not build profiles on readers, since there is no tracking to do so with.
It is worth noting that our form features are currently clearly-marked placeholders that are not yet wired to a live system, so they do not yet deliver or store submissions. Once a form is fully configured, any information you submit will be handled only to fulfill the request you made. We do not sell your personal information, and we share it only as genuinely needed to act on your request. We keep what you submit no longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose you provided it.
Outbound links and your choices
This site links out to external websites, including retailers, and some outbound links may be affiliate links. When you follow a link away from US Computer, you are subject to the destination site's own privacy practices and terms, not ours, so we encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external site you visit. We have no control over and take no responsibility for how those third-party sites collect or use information, which is handled entirely under their own policies.
Your choices here are simple. You can read the entire site without submitting anything, since no personal information is required to use the guides. If you do submit information through a form or email, you may ask us to delete what we hold about you, and we will honor reasonable requests, especially since we keep little to begin with. If you have any question about privacy on this site, you can reach us at hello@us-computer.com, and we will do our best to address it clearly and promptly.
